<p>A method of producing concrete articles involves introducing a first volume 11 of a first material that includes a first aggregate 16 into a first portion of a mould. Then a second volume 20 of material comprising concrete is poured into a second portion of the mould, so that the first and second volumes are in engagement. The concrete sets and the mould is removed, and the product is then finished to at least partially reveal the first aggregate. This may be done by polishing. Typically, the first material includes a phosphorescent as part of the aggregate, and may also include concrete. The second material may also further include a second aggregate. A concrete setting inhibiting medium (retarder) may be applied as a painted or printed shape during molding, which may then be washed off to at least partially reveal the first aggregate. Alternatively, the first aggregate may be adhered to the mould to achieve the same effect. The finished concrete article would typically be used as street furniture such as glow-in-the-dark bollards.</p> |
