PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tailstock capable of covering an extended range of workpiece dimensions subjected to cylindrical grinding, and of offering workpieces cylindrically ground with good dimensional accuracy. SOLUTION: The tailstock comprises: a tailstock body 1 capable of moving on a surface of a guide table 30 and of being fastened 9 at an appropriate position; a first tailstock spindle 3a with a center 5 inserted therein; a second tailstock spindle 3b surrounding the outside of the first tailstock spindle with a small space; a first center advance/retreat mechanism 70 to advance or retreat the first and second tailstock spindles simultaneously in a headstock direction; a second center advance/retreat mechanism to advance or retreat only the first tailstock spindle 3a without advancing/retreating the second tailstock spindle 3b; and a longitudinal taper adjustment mechanism to compensate for a longitudinal bias between an axis 0<SB>2</SB>of the first tailstock spindle and a center axis 0<SB>1</SB>of the first tailstock spindle.
