<p>A back lead is disclosed for use by anglers which comprises a weight 10, a permanent magnet 12 and a clip 14 for connecting to the fishing line. The clip is magnetically attracted to the weight. The magnetic attraction between the weight and the clip is sufficient to withstand the gravitational force acting on the weight during deployment of the back lead but allows the fishing line to separate from the weight when the angler strikes after a bite is sensed. The clip stays attached to the line, and there may be a separate line attached to the weight to allow it to be retrieved after it decouples from the clip.</p> |
