The device (1) has a metallic notching piece (7) including an engaging zone extending along a horizontal plane. The zone is provided with an engaging edge in a blocking notch (3). The zone comprises a recess opened toward the edge. The recess is filled with a block (12) made of plastic material issued from a material of a plastic slide valve (5). The block protrudes from the edge to form a track shoe (11) avoiding contact between a rod (2) and the piece when the piece is distant from the notch while permitting engagement of the piece in the notch when facing one another. An independent claim is also included for a headrest comprising a rest cushion for receiving a sliding blocking device.
