PURPOSE: A water quality improvement composition and an improving method of water quality using the same are provided to improve the quality of water suffering from eutrophication efficiently without huge construction costs, long process time, the destruction of inhabited environment, and another environmental contamination. CONSTITUTION: A water quality improvement composition comprises 60-68 weight% of 6-10 μm red mud, 15-25 weight% of 5-10 mm aluminum sulfate, 2-5 weight% of 250-350 μm zeolite, and 5-10 weight% of 150-200 μm SiO2. The red mud has a pH of 7.5-9.5 and comprises 25-45% of Fe2O3, 15-25% of Al2O3, 10-20% of SiO2, 4-10% of TiO2, and small amounts of CaO, MgO, Na2O.
