PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost optical transmission device that is capable of, with a simple construction, shortening time required to control a variable dispersion compensator at the time of redundantly configured optical transmission line switching.SOLUTION: At an optical transmission device that transmits/receives an optical signal by selecting one of a first optical transmission line and a second optical transmission line, a transmission loss of not-selected one of the optical transmission lines is measured, a wavelength dispersion value of the not-selected one of the optical transmission lines is calculated based on a result of the measurement, a dispersion compensation amount is obtained with which it is possible to cancel the wavelength dispersion value, and, when an optical switch performs switching between the optical transmission lines, the obtained dispersion compensation amount corresponding to the not-selected one of the optical transmission lines is set at a variable dispersion compensator. |
