PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sulfur secondary battery improved in coulomb efficiency and capable of acting at low temperatures without melting of a negative electrode even when the negative electrode is made of Na metal, thereby achieving high safety.SOLUTION: A sulfur secondary battery 50 includes: a positive electrode 2 having a sulfur-based electrode active material which includes at least one selected from the group consisting of elemental sulfur, a metal sulfide, a metal polysulfide, and an organic sulfur compound; a negative electrode 4; and an electrolyte containing one or more ionic liquids and a Na salt mixed with the at least one of the ionic liquids, the ionic liquids being selected from the group consisting of a pyrrolidinium-based ionic liquid, a piperidinium-based ionic liquid, a quaternary ammonium-based ionic liquid, a quaternary phosphonium-based ionic liquid, and a dimethyl imidazolium-based ionic liquid. |
