PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which performs misalignment correction processing in a shorter period of time.SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus, a misalignment correction pattern is formed on a conveyance belt, the misalignment correction pattern is used for correcting image forming positions of respective colors by reflecting an inclination amount &Dgr;d of sensor to the misalignment correction pattern. The misalignment correction pattern is detected by the sensor. On the basis of the result of the detection of the misalignment correction pattern, a control section calculates a misalignment correction amount. On the basis of the calculated misalignment correction amount, the control section performs calculation for correcting the misalignment correction pattern. Further, the control section cancels the inclination amount &Dgr;d reflected on the result of calculation, and calculates a final misalignment correction amount. By performing skew correction on the basis of the final misalignment correction amount, the misalignment is corrected. |
