PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crosslinking agent including a hydrophilic polycarbodiimide compound which forms a stable association in an aqueous medium, is excellent in dispersion stability and storage stability at room temperature and high temperature, and further is excellent in curability at low temperature and compatibility with a base agent, to provide a method for producing the crosslinking agent, and to provide an aqueous resin composition containing the crosslinking agent.SOLUTION: There is disclosed a crosslinking agent including a hydrophilic polycarbodiimide compound represented by general formula (1) (in the formula, an average polymerization degree n denotes an integer of 1 to 15; R, Rare hydrophilic groups comprising the residue of a hydrophilic organic compound having one active hydrogen in a molecule, which can react with an isocyanate group and at least one side of them is the hydrophilic group with which an N-alkyl amino sulfonic acid salt reacts; and X is a 4-20C aliphatic hydrocarbon group, a 6-15C alicyclic hydrocarbon group or a 7-15C aromatic hydrocarbon group). |
