PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact damper exerting large damping action in both of a compressing direction and a pulling direction, with less difficulty in maintenance, and automatically being restored at an initial position when an external force does not act.SOLUTION: Vibration and shock generated by an external force acting on between first and second members are damped. A first member (1) is constituted of first and second contact parts (2a, 2b) arranged at predetermined intervals. Second members (10, 20) are constituted of cylinders (11 and a pair of pistons (14a, 14b)) in which viscoelastic fluid is sealed. Piston heads (15a, 15B) are positioned to be opposed in the cylinder. Piston rods (16a, 16b) get out from cylinder sidewalls (12a, 12b) to the outside, and tips thereof are respectively in contact with the contact parts (2a, 2b), while rod-side back faces of the piston heads are in contact with the cylinder sidewalls (12a, 12b). |
