PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particle which is excellent in dispersibility in a hydrophobic solvent, and a cosmetic including the particle.SOLUTION: A cosmetic includes a particle with a polymer chain having a constituent unit represented by general formula -CHC(R)COOR- (wherein Ris a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and Ris a 8-18C alkyl group) or a constituent unit represented by general formula -CHC(R)CONHR- (wherein Ris a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and Ris a 8-18C alkyl group) introduced on a surface thereof where a metal oxide exists. In the particle, density of the polymer chains introduced on the surface thereof where the metal oxide exists is 0.04 to 0.30 pieces/nm, a number-average molecular weight of the polymer chain is 10,000 to 50,000, and a ratio of a weight-average molecular weight to the number-average molecular weight is 1.0 to 1.7. |
