The invention relates to a process for preparing composite molecular membranes to be employed in gas separation. According to the invention, the process consists in sintering a resorcinol-formaldehyde xerogel through the sol-gel method, within the walls of commercially-available macroporous monotubular ceramic supports, followed by drying, under normal conditions, for 15...25 days, to result in resorcinol-formaldehyde xerogel composites on ceramic support which, after the pyrolysis under inert atmosphere, at a temperature of 600...900°C, are converted into carbon xerogel composites on ceramic support with gas separation/purification properties, for gases, such as hydrogen, methane, carbon dioxide and carbon oxide.
|
