PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valuable medium processing device which can achieve space-saving by a more compact configuration in comparison with the case where a specific valuable paper receiving machine and a new paper discharging machine are provided separately from a currency processing device.SOLUTION: A valuable medium processing device 500 includes: a supply unit 10 for supplying valuable media into a machine body; defective paper storage units 40 and 42 for storing defective papers and/or old papers; a first carrying unit 14a which carries defective papers and/or old papers out of valuable media supplied into the machine body by the supply unit 10, to the defective paper storage units; a new paper storage unit 50 for storing new papers; a discharging unit 60 which discharges new papers out of the machine body; and a second carrying unit 14b which carries new papers stored in the new paper storage unit 50, to the discharging unit 60.
