PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive starting method for reducing the start-up time when starting driving an optical scanner showing nonlinear characteristics.SOLUTION: A determination method for determining a drive starting method which controls an AC voltage to be supplied to a driving part when starting driving an optical scanner showing nonlinear characteristics includes: determining a resonance frequency and a resonance amplitude for an AC voltage having a first voltage value, where the first voltage value is such a voltage value that a resonance amplitude of the optical scanner is smaller than a desired amplitude; determining a resonance frequency and a resonance amplitude for a second voltage value higher than the first voltage value; and determining, if the resonance amplitude for the second voltage value is equal to or larger than the desired amplitude, that a frequency should be changed from the resonance frequency for the first voltage value toward the resonance frequency for the second voltage value when driving the optical scanner is started. |
