The invention relates to use of a composition comprising phenmedipham applied to the oilseed rape not before the oilseed rape has reached growth stage 1.2 (second true leaf emerged) in an amount of phenmedipham of up to about 400 g/ha as a herbicide in the protection of oilseed rape. The invention also relates to a method of controlling or inhibiting the growth of and/or killing weeds associated with oilseed rape crops comprising applying a herbicidally effective amount of a composition comprising phenmedipham in an amount of phenmedipham of up to about 400 g/ha not before the oilseed rape has reached growth stage 1.2.
