PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the user, etc. to immediately realize that repair, etc. is needed.SOLUTION: A projection apparatus 100 comprises: a time division multiplexed light generation device 40 which emits light in a plurality of colors, one at a time repeatedly; a display element 30 which modules the light emitted by the time division multiplexed light generation device 40 to form an image; a projection optics system 60 which projects the image formed by the display element 30; an illuminance sensor 70 which converts the illuminance of the light emitted by the time division multiplexed light generation device 40 into an electrical signal and outputs the converted signal; and a CPU 10 which, when output of the illuminance sensor 70 is found to be larger than a predetermined threshold Vref as the result of comparison, actuates the time division multiplexed light generation device 40 and, when output of the illuminance sensor 70 is found to be smaller than the predetermined threshold Vref, stops the time division multiplexed light generation device 40. |
