[Class 3(ii)] In a road surface marker of the type comprising a resilient rubber block mounted in a holder, the holder has end walls considerably thicker than its side walls, dome-shaped corners and transverse recesses underneath to key the holder to the road. As shown in Figs. 3-5, the holder has wide end walls A, each provided with a depressed centre portion A<2> and domeshaped ends A<1>. The end walls are joined by narrow side walls B, thickened at each end F. The holder has flanges A', B' and transverse recesses G for keying it to the road. The holder contains a rubber block C mounting reflectors D'guarded by projections A<3>. The rubber block C is held in position by prongs H, Fig. 5, on the side walls B, engaging in holes C' in the block. It has a central cavity C<4>, Fig. 6, to increase flexibility, and slits C<5> on one side of which are tongues C<6> which wipe the reflectors D when the latter are forced down by vehicles. A canvas re-inforcement C<8> is moulded in the block.</p> |
