PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron-based particles excellent in flowability and filling stability.SOLUTION: An iron-based powder is composed of iron-based particles constituting at least one portion of a powder for molding, that is press-molded into a molding after being filled in a cavity of a mold. The iron-based powder is characterized in that the iron-based particles each having a circularity (Ψc) of >0.8, calculated by the image processing of particle projection images, exist in the range of 40-75%, and the average circularity (Ψcm) of the whole powder is ≤0.92. The iron-based powder is obtained, for example, by mixing a water-atomized powder and 5-50% of a gas-atomized powder. By using the iron-based powder regulated in particle shape distribution, the flowability is extremely improved and the filling density is stabilized, and further, moldings and sintered compacts almost free from mass variation can be efficiently and stably produced. |
