PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable adjustment of the luminance of a projected image as much as possible in accordance with environment near a screen.SOLUTION: A projector can be operated by a remote controller that transmits an operation instruction together with the detection result of a first luminance sensor. The projector comprises: a projecting part configured to project an image; first and second receiving sections configured to receive a signal from the remote controller; a control section configured to control the projecting part on the basis of a signal received by the first or second receiving section; a housing accommodating the projecting part, the first and second receiving sections, and the control section; and a second luminance sensor configured to detect luminance around the housing. The first receiving section is disposed on the projection side of the housing, and the second receiving section is disposed opposite the projection side of the housing. When a signal from the remote controller is received by the first receiving section, the control section controls the luminance of the projecting part on the basis of the detection result of the first luminance sensor. When a signal from the remote controller is received by the second receiving section, the control section controls the luminance of the projecting part on the basis of the detection result of the second luminance sensor. |
