PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element, which is excellent in photoelectric conversion efficiency and attains improvement in short-circuit current density and improvement in durability, and a metal complex dye used for a dye-sensitized solar cell.SOLUTION: This metal complex dye is represented by formula: M(LD)(LA):(Y). (In the formula, M represents Fe, Ruor Os; LD represents a tridentate ligand represented by formula (A), and LA represents a specific tridentate ligand that differs from the tridentate ligand wherein three cyclic coordinating groups are linked.
