PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter formation substrate having a columnar spacer obtained by forming a columnar shape by a pigmented layer and covering the columnar shape with an OC layer, cell-assembled with a TFT substrate to form a liquid crystal display unit, as a liquid crystal display unit such as a smart phone in which high definition display is required, the color filter formation substrate capable of preventing coloring dust being dust on top of the pigmented layer of the columnar spacer from flowing into a liquid crystal, even under oscillation.SOLUTION: A color filter formation substrate for a liquid crystal display unit has a columnar spacer obtained by arranging pigmented layers of respective colors for color filter formation and a black matrix on one surface of a transparent substrate and laminating two or more pigmented layers from among the pigmented layers of respective colors for color filter formation on the black matrix to form a columnar shape and covering the laminated layers with an OC layer. The pigmented layer of the transparent substrate positioned farthest away from the columnar spacer is recessed on a side not being a transparent substrate side, toward the transparent substrate side. |
