USE OF A GLYCOPROTEIN ISOLATED FROM SACCHARINA JAPONICA AS AN ANTIOXIDANT AND DNA PROTECTING AGENT

PURPOSE: A glycoprotein isolated from Saccharina japonica is provided to be used as medicine, food, and cosmetics, capable of preventing and treating oxidative stress or DNA damage. CONSTITUTION: A method for isolating glycoprotein which has an anti-oxidation and DNA protecting effect from Saccharina japonica comprises a step of injecting dried Saccharina japonica into distilled water and cultivating it at room temperature; a step of centrifuging the culture and removing a supernatant; a step of adding ethanol with a volume three times larger than that of the supernatant into the supernatant and cultivating it at room temperature; a step of filtering the culture; and a step of freezing and drying the filtered material.
