PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a memory system capable of reducing power consumption and a method for controlling power saving of the same.SOLUTION: If a request supplied from a host 30 via an interface unit 21 does not occur for a certain period of time, a first CPU 22 sets the interface unit 21 to a power-saving state. A storage unit 11 stores data. A second CPU 23 controls the storage unit 11 at least according to an event, and, if the event does not occur for a certain period of time, sets the storage unit 11 to a power-saving state. If the first CPU 22 receives a request from the host 30 when the interface unit 21 is in the power-saving state, it provides notification to the second CPU 23 by interruption. When the second CPU 23 detects the interruption, it returns the storage unit 11 from the power-saving state to a normal operation state. |
