PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor light emitting device which has excellent visible light and ultraviolet light reflectivity, and can prevent the occurrence of an electric failure and the deterioration of reflectivity over a long period of time, a reflector and components therefor, a composition for obtaining the reflector, and a method for manufacturing the reflector.SOLUTION: A semiconductor light emitting device comprises: a substrate; a semiconductor light emitting element; and a reflector for reflecting light emitted from the semiconductor light emitting element toward a predetermined direction. The reflector contains polymethyl pentene and melamine cyanurate.
