PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine drive compressor that suitably starts an unload operation during no load and reduces fuel consumption.SOLUTION: An engine drive compressor 1 includes a compressor 3, an intake regulating valve 4 for regulating an air supply quantity to the compressor 3, and an oil chamber 5 for storing the compressed air compressed by the compressor 3. The engine drive compressor 1 supplies compressed air stored in the oil chamber 5 to a load apparatus 10. When a transit time passes in a state where a storage pressure of the compressed air stored in the oil chamber 5 exceeds a purge unload start pressure, a rated pressure is forcibly decreased to a no-load operation pressure lower than a normal operation pressure, the compressed air stored in the oil chamber 5 is released to the atmosphere through a purge valve 8, air supply from the atmosphere to the compressor 3 is blocked by the intake regulating valve 4, and a purge unload operation is performed so as to maintain the storage pressure at the no-load operation pressure. |
