PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a difference in the luminance of an image shot by using a flash without using a mechanical shutter.SOLUTION: An image pickup device includes an image sensor having a plurality of pixels to generate pixel signals arranged in two-dimensional matrix form, a control unit, and an image processing unit. The image sensor can change the order in which rows are selected when pixel signals are read out. During a flash shoot, the control unit lets the image sensor execute in succession a first shoot and a second shoot whose orders of selection are mutually reversed. During a flash shoot, furthermore, the control unit controls the exposure timing of the image sensor so that the flash light emission periods of pixels in each of the first and the second shoots are mutually the same. During a flash shoot, the image processing unit combines two images generated by each of the first and the second shoots which were executed in succession to generate a shot image. |
