597625 Disclosed is a manually operated labelling machine (10) for applying labels to produce items. The machine has a handheld label applicator (20), an articulating boom (40) connected to and supporting the label applicator, and suspension means (80) connected to the articulating boom for carrying at least a portion of the weight of the label applicator. Label supply means (60) are provided for continuously feeding labels to the label applicator. The label supply means is mounted remotely from the label applicator and includes a roll of labels carried on a label strip. Label transport means (70) are provided for continuously moving the label strip from the label supply means to the handheld label applicator along a pathway adjacent the articulating boom.
