PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate display unevenness caused by ununiformity of a cell gap while sealing adhesive strength is maintained.SOLUTION: In a liquid crystal display element 1, a substrate 2 and a counter substrate 3, which are arranged so as to face each other via a liquid crystal layer 9, are bonded via a sealing material 4. Columnar spacers 5 for defining a thickness of a gap between the substrates are provided. An inner projection 6 is formed along an inner periphery of the sealing material 4 and an outer projection 7 is formed along an outer periphery in the range of width/height=0.5 to 10. At least the inner projection 6 is formed at the same height as the columnar spacers 5. This makes it possible to uniformize a cell gap in a panel surface, and to eliminate display unevenness while adhesive strength is maintained. |
