PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a multilayer ceramic electronic component; and a method of manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: A multilayer ceramic electronic component includes: a ceramic element body having a plurality of dielectric layers laminated thereon; a plurality of first and second internal electrodes which are formed on a dielectric layer located at an intermediate part of the ceramic element body, and are alternately exposed along the vertical direction of the ceramic element body and through both end surfaces of the ceramic element body; a plurality of dummy electrodes formed on each of dielectric layers located at upper and lower parts of the ceramic element body; and first and second external electrodes respectively formed on both end surfaces of the ceramic element body and electrically connected to the exposed portions of the first and second internal electrodes. The dummy electrodes are formed longer than a length along which the first and second external electrodes cover the ceramic element body.
