PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine deposition of scale in an earlier stage by enhancing detection accuracy, in a boiler which determines deposition of the scale in a water pipe 3 by detecting a temperature in the water pipe.SOLUTION: There is provided a once-through boiler in which a water level is set in the middle of a vertically installed water pipe 3. The boiler includes: a temperature sensor 12 which detects the temperature of the water pipe and is disposed in a region where an air-water surface is formed as a boundary between a lower part in the water pipe essentially comprising boiler water and an upper part in the water pipe essentially comprising steam when combustion is carried out in the boiler; and a scale determining unit 13 which determines deposition or no deposition of scale based on a water pipe temperature detected by the temperature sensor 12. The boiler determines deposition of the scale when the water pipe temperature is higher than a reference value. |
