PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a hydrocarbon oil available continuously and stably in view of the fact that: hydrocarbon oils, although classified in petroleum-, synthesis-, fish-, and plant-based categories based on their origin, all of them are limited resources and difficult to obtain continuously and stably, and to provide a skin care preparation for external use compounded with such a hydrocarbon oil.SOLUTION: Farnesene produced by microorganisms is dimerized in the presence of carbonaceous substrate-containing nutrients, followed by making a chemical treatment including hydrogenation to obtain a straight-chain hydrocarbon oil, which is effective as an oil for skin care preparations for external use and available continuously and stably. |
