A collision avoidance assistance device equipped with: an assistance region setting unit (12) that sets an assistance region (A) in the vicinity of a vehicle (C) on the basis of a set lateral acceleration Gyd determined in accordance with the vehicle speed Vs during steering; and an assistance control unit (13) that enables collision avoidance assistance for the vehicle (C) when an obstruction is detected within the assistance region (A). On the basis of the set lateral acceleration Gyd determined in accordance with the vehicle speed Vs during steering, a region wherein collisions cannot easily be avoided by means of normal steering can be set as the assistance region (A). In addition, by permitting collision avoidance assistance when an obstruction is detected in the assistance region (A), collision avoidance assistance can be executed only when a collision cannot easily be avoided by means of normal steering. |
