The bearing bracket (2) is arranged adjacent to a cylinder bore (3) from one sidewall (4) to the opposite sidewall (4') of the cylinder crankcase (1). A radius (5) is introduced in each transition region from the bearing bracket in the sidewalls and/or the sidewalls are bent. Heat-treating of the cylinder crankcase is carried out, and quick quenching of the radius is carried out as the residue of the cylinder crankcase. The bending process is carried out at elevated temperature of the radius of the cylinder crankcase. An independent claim is included for a cylinder crankcase.
