The battery (10) has battery cells (12) i.e. lithium ion cells, forming a stack. A spacer (16) is arranged between the two cells, and electrically insulates the two cells from each other. Each cell is enclosed by the spacer and another spacer (14). Sealing cords (22) i.e. flexible plastic cords, are arranged in gaps (20) that are formed between two front sides of the spacers, where the front sides face towards each other. The sealing cords are connected with the front sides by partial melting. The sealing cords are formed from thermoplastic, which is meltable by ultrasound welding. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a battery.
