PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device and a navigation method, which are capable of obtaining map information economically by limiting usage of a mobile phone line while considering the memory space for the map information on the navigation device side.SOLUTION: A navigation device includes first communication means 7, storage means 11, path guidance means 24, and communication control means 25 so that the device guides to the destination by repeating the steps of: obtaining new map information, by the communication control means 25 via the first communication means 7, from a server 3 via an access point; and guiding a route, by the path guidance means 24, to a new access point included in the new map information. In the process, obtaining of map information having an information volume within the memory space of the storage means 11 is repeated. |
