PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength separation device that can realize wavelength separation without using a rotary wheel and does not reflect light to an image display device, and further to provide a projector and an image display system.SOLUTION: A wavelength separation device comprises: a narrow-band wavelength plate 22 that changes polarization directions of light having predetermined wavelength ranges and emits the light such that image light of a right-eye image and image light of a left-eye image made incident can be separated to first emission light having a first wavelength band and a polarization direction that is first polarization and second emission light having a second wavelength band and a polarization direction that is second polarization different from the first polarization; a polarization liquid crystal panel 23 that does not change polarization directions of the first emission light and the second emission light and emits emission light L1 when the emission light L1 is one of the image light of the right-eye image and the left-eye image, and changes the polarization direction of the first emission light to the second polarization, changes the polarization direction of the second emission light to the first polarization and emits the emission light L1 when the emission light L1 is the other; and a polarization plate 24 that has an absorption axis in the polarization direction of one of the first polarization and the second polarization, transmits light in the polarization direction of the other and emits the light. |
