PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voltage regulator capable of reducing current consumption while preventing an inrush current.SOLUTION: A voltage regulator includes: a reference voltage generating circuit for generating a reference voltage; an amplifier for amplifying and outputting a difference between the reference voltage and a division voltage obtained by dividing a voltage outputted by an output transistor, to control a gate of the output transistor; an external terminal to which a signal for turning on and off a circuit is inputted from the outside; a start circuit for applying the reference voltage to the amplifier; a voltage detection circuit for detecting the voltage outputted by the output transistor; and a switch circuit connected to the start circuit and cutting off the current flowing in the start circuit upon receipt of a signal from the voltage detection circuit. |
