PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pulse modulation method or the like comprising structure for effectively suppressing a nonlinear optical phenomenon increasing according to expansion of pulse width of an optical pulse when amplifying the optical pulse of a predetermined cycle as seed light.SOLUTION: A modulator (51) applies pulse modulation to a laser light source as a seed light source (41) or light outputted from the laser light source. A modulation pattern of modulation voltage (E) outputted from the modulator (51) is adjusted so as to include a plurality of pulse components (P1, P2 and P3) each having signal width shorter than pulse width of an optical pulse as optical pulse generating patterns (P) in a modulation cycle equivalent to a cycle of the optical pulse. |
