PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine which allows a user to easily set a position on a work cloth on which sewing is performed.SOLUTION: A sewing machine includes receivers for detecting ultrasonic waves. A user presses a pen tip of an ultrasonic pen against a work cloth to designate a starting position. A CPU of the sewing machine detects the ultrasonic waves through the receivers (S33: YES). The CPU identifies the position on the work cloth designated by the user (S35), and determines the identified position as the starting position (S41). The CPU releases a needle bar (S43), and drives only a feed dog to transfer the work cloth such that the starting position coincides with a needle drop point of a sewing needle (S45). Then, the CPU connects the needle bar to a sewing machine motor (S49), and drives the feed dog to start sewing on the work cloth from the starting position (S50). |
