The invention relates to a protective body for insertion into a body cavity of a human or animal body for the protection of tissue and/or organs that are not to be irradiated when carrying out radiation therapy, wherein the protective body (1) comprises at least one absorber body (2) designed to absorb radiation and having at least one curved surface (3) that delimits the absorber body, and the absorber body (2) has a density at 20°C of at least 5 gram per cubic centimetre, preferably of at least 10 gram per cubic centimetre.
