The module (1) has an airbag (2) and a gas generator (3), where the airbag surrounds an inflator in direction of deployment and comprising a folded portion (4). The airbag has a constriction portion between the gas generator and the folded portion. The constriction portion is formed by a narrowing unit (5) made of plastic or metal, that contracts the airbag between the gas generator and the folded portion. The constriction portion is arranged to extend in the form of a loop or near a region between the gas generator and the folded portion. The narrowing unit is selected from one of a seam, a catch tape, a fabric tape loop, a wire loop or a ring.
