The suction cup (1) has a fastener (2) for fastening the suction cup to a movable support such as a crane or to be connected to a lifting beam, and a terminal (13) for vacuum source. The cup has a base support (3) which is connected to an elastic sealing device (4) having a contact surface for contacting with a fixing load. The contact surface comprises several contact regions (6,7) extending in different planes. The sealing device and the contact surface are arranged in the region surrounding the recess of the suction cup. The stepped contact regions merge into one another.
