PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent false detection of a game medium when a player illegally sets up entry of the game medium.SOLUTION: A game machine (100, 201) includes a game medium detection device (1, 10, 106) stored in a game machine body (101, 202). The game medium detection device has: a light emission part 3 and a light reception part 4 disposed to face each other across a passage; and a control circuit 51 that sets at least one of a pulse width and light emission intensity of pulse light output by the light emission part 3, determines whether the light detected by the light reception part 4 is the pulse light from the light emission part 3, according to a signal from the light emission part 4, determines that a game medium has passed through the passage 6 when detecting a second predetermined number of pulse light beams after a first predetermined number of pulse light beams are not detected in a row, and outputs a determination result thereof to a main control circuit 110. Every time the pulse light is detected after the first predetermined number of pulse light beams are not detected in a row, the control circuit 51 modulates a third predetermined number of pulse light beams following the detected pulse light. |
