PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that forms images by using toner and an image forming method in such image forming apparatus capable of adjusting density of images to reduce density unevenness of images due to rotational deflection and image density of image carriers, while suppressing toner consumption and required time.SOLUTION: A first condition for suppressing unevenness in image density caused by developing gap fluctuation components of image carrier 40Y, C, M, K is determined on the basis of unevenness of an image detected by image density detection means 52, and a second condition for suppressing unevenness in image density caused by image density is determined on the basis of potential distribution of surface potential detected by potential detection means 56Y, C, M, K when the image is formed and the density unevenness. First image forming means 42Y, C, M, K and second image forming means 43Y, C, M, K are operated according to the determined first and second conditions. |
