SYNTHETIC QUARTZ GLASS FOR ULTRAVIOLET CUT FILTER, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synthetic quartz glass for an ultraviolet cut filter, which sufficiently reduces the transmittance of unnecessary ultraviolet rays and maintains the transmittances of visible light and near infrared light in high levels.SOLUTION: A synthetic quartz glass in which ≥90 mass% of doped Ce is present in the Cestate is obtained as follows. When a SiOglass microparticle obtained by flame hydrolysis of a Si compound is deposited and grown on a base material to thereby form a porous SiOglass body; the porous SiOglass body is doped with 0.01 to 0.5 mass% of Ce; the SiOporous glass doped with Ce is heated to a vitrification temperature in a predetermined atmosphere to thereby obtain the synthetic quartz glass.
