Provided is an aluminum alloy material for a lithium-ion cell capable of significantly reducing the incidence of weld defects such as uneven beads and underfills occurring during laser welding, wherein the aluminum alloy material for a lithium-ion cell is characterized in that Al-Mn-Si intermetallic compounds of a size less than a maximum length of 1.0 µm are in a distribution of at least 0.25/µm2 in a matrix of an aluminum metal sheet comprising at least 0.8% and no more than 1.5% of Mn, no more than 0.6% of Si, no more than 0.7% of Fe, no more than 0.20% of Cu, and no more than 0.20% of Zn (all amounts given in terms of mass), the remainder composed of Al and inevitable impurities, the surface-area ratio of the intermetallic compound when a field of view of 5000 µm2 is imaged and analyzed being at least 3.0%. |
