The invention relates to a method for generating electrical energy from energy stored in the form of a compressed gas stored under pressure in compressed-gas storage means (4), comprising the steps of: withdrawing gas from the gas-storage means (4); heating the withdrawn compressed gas; and supplying oxidizing air to at least one main gas turbine (1) coupled to at least one electrical-energy generator (G), a first fraction of the oxidizing air coming from the heated compressed gas and a second fraction of the oxidizing air coming from a compressor (2) associated with the main gas turbine and supplied with air from outside. In addition, the method comprises a step of supplying air to at least one auxiliary turbine (6) coupled to at least one electrical-energy generator (G), said auxiliary turbine being supplied exclusively with gas from the heated compressed gas.
