Furthermore, the upper limit value of the engine rotation speed allowing the reliability of the MG1 and the pinion gear to be maintained is calculated as an MG1 assumed upper limit rotation speed and a pinion assumed upper limit rotation speed, on the basis of an assumed rotation speed NpV of the driving shaft obtained by converting a vehicle traveling speed into a rotation speed of the driving shaft. The minimum value of the MG1 upper limit rotation speed, the pinion upper limit rotation speed, the MG1 assumed upper limit rotation speed, and the pinion assumed upper limit rotation speed is calculated as an upper limit rotation speed Nlimit.
