PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new treatments and therapies for bacterial infections, and compounds useful in the treatment or prevention or amelioration of one or more symptoms of bacterial infections.SOLUTION: This invention is directed to compounds characterized as a modulator of prokaryotic EF-Tu, especially bacterial elongation factor EF-Tu, e.g., thiopeptide compounds, and intermediates thereto, as well as pharmaceutical compositions containing the compounds for use in interfering with the life cycle of bacteria and in treating or preventing a bacterial infection or physiological conditions associated therewith. |
