PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for saccharification capable of efficiently saccharifying a cellulose-containing substance in a short time by beating treatment.SOLUTION: A method for saccharifying a cellulose-containing substance includes reducing the freeness of the cellulose-containing substance by beating treatment, and adding cellulase to saccharify the cellulose-containing substance with the cellulase. The method is particularly suitable when kraft pulp is used as the cellulose-containing substance.
